My Kind of Baking...Not Perfect But Still So Much Fun!

Making cookies is so much fun for kids, isn't it? We love making cookies, it gives us a fun way to spend the afternoon and a yummy treat to eat when we are finished!

I was at Michaels the other day and picked up this container of 50 Animal Pals cookie cutters - on clearance for only $2!!

I thought it would be a great addition to our kitchen...we could use them for years and always have the perfect animal cookie cutter on hand for all of the parties & holidays that will come up!

For Easter I wanted to make some treats, but didn't have much on hand. I found a cake mix that I had picked up after Halloween, and some decorating frosting I bought after Valentine's day. Can you tell I am a clearance shopper??

So I had cake mix but I didn't want a cake.... Then I found a recipe on the box for a cookie version instead of the cake. Perfect! I mixed the batter, 2 eggs, and some oil and we had cookie dough! We rolled it out and picked some cookie cutter shapes....we decided on a Bunny, Duck, Sheep, and Butterfly. I also mixed sprinkles in with the cookie batter so that they would be pretty :)

As you can see we had to get a little creative with the decorations since I didn't have any real frosting!

I used the tube of red frosting, M & M's, and some leftover meltable chocolate pieces. I threw the chocolates in a bowl, microwaved them, then put them in a pastry bag and piped the chocolate onto the cookies. I worked pretty well and they did end up looking frosted!

Even though we didn't have the best ingredients to start with, we had a lot of fun making these and made do with what we had in front of us! And these cookies certainly would not be able to win any awards....but we had a really nice afternoon together making these and in my book, that is what counts.

And I was probably the last person to find out that you can make cookies out of a cake mix.....and they turned out delicious!

Our Easter Dress From The Children's Place

This past weekend, I headed over to The Children's Place to see if they had any Easter Dresses left for my little Bunny. I saw on their website that the dresses I liked were marked down to only $9.75 from $19.50! Pretty good deal! I crossed my fingers that they had some left in her size and sure enough they did!

The cut is perfect, the length is perfect. It has a good amount of swing, which she loves. There was pink, Purple, and Blue available and we chose the Purple. I liked the soft pastel shade and thought it would look great on her. And I was right!

The back has ties that you can make into a cute bow!

It's also not SO frilly that she can wear it only one day a year. It would be great for Birthday parties, Weddings, get togethers--whatever! The dresses I buy her for Christmas are usually only a one time wear kind of dress...which feels like a waste of money. This year I will pick something up she can wear more than once.

It's a little wrinkled because I had to wash it already.....in the 5 minutes she wore it she got food on it. That's Talent! I'll just have to run a quick iron over it so it looks perfect and polished. And that will last probably another 5 minutes with all the running around and eating she'll do on Easter! LOL!

So if you have The Children's Place nearby, and you are a procrastinator like me and still need a cute outfit, you should still be able to pick up a cute dress for a good price!

Save On Energy With Sylvania SuperSaver Halogen Light Bulbs (Mercury Free!)

With all of the Spring cleaning going on in so many homes right now, it's the perfect time to take a look at your energy use and discover new, easy ways to be more environmentally friendly. One very simple way to do this is to look into what light bulbs you are using.....and check out the new Supersaver Halogen Light Bulb from Sylvania!

This Halogen bulb was created for Families that want to be more environmentally conscience, but don't want to compromise the light quality they were used to getting from their old bulbs. The shape of the bulb is familiar and the light is fully dimmable, which works great for so many rooms in your home. The best part? You get the same bright white light as regular incandescent bulbs, but use approx 33% less energy than regular incandescent bulbs.

And unlike compact fluorescent, there is NO Mercury used in these bulbs! To me, that is the main advantage to these bulbs over the other 'eco friendly' bulbs on the market. I had switched a few regular bulbs to compact fluorescents in an effort to save on my electric usage.....but then what happened? I had not one...but two bulbs break in my home. I was never comfortable having a product with Mercury in my home, and when they broke open it was a huge deal to make sure it was completely cleaned up, house was aired out, etc. And I wasn't too quick to go out and buy more, that's for sure!

These bulbs are the perfect option for my Family. They look great while in use and give off a bright white light that makes the room really feel lit up. I couldn't tell much of a difference between these bulbs and my regular incandescant bulbs....which is good! I love that they reduce energy usage and are made mercury free. I would definitely purchase these bulbs for other areas in my home.

You can find these bulbs online at www.sylvania.com/HalogenSS or in retail places such as Menards and select BJ Locations Nationwide. Prices start at $4.29 for a 2 pack.

The Sylvania halogen SuperSaver light bulb is available in 28-Watt (40-Watt Replacement), 43- Watt (65-Watt replacement), 72-Watt (for 100 Watt Replacement), and also comes in a variety of flood lights in 35, 50, and 80-Watts.

A Week Off & Starting New Shred Level

Quick Diet Update :)

My weight is the same...okay maybe up a pound or 2. I was very bad this past week and went completely off my diet. I loved every minute of it of course, but not so much when the pants got tight again, that's for sure!

Saint Patrick's Day was my Wedding Anniversary and there was no way I was going to not indulge that day. We got my favorite Chinese food that is in my old neighborhood...I always go back even though I don't live in that city anymore! It's worth the drive.

Then Saturday I threw a DiGiornio house Party - my first time ever having a house party! Actually it was the first time I had ever signed up for one. Hoping I get chosen again because it was fun!

Anyways, Saturday included a lot of pizza and bread sticks. Totally yummy but totally fattening. Sunday my sister had a get together at her house and had some AWESOME appetizers that I had way too many of.

Add in some fast food, and that was my calorie explosion of a week!

But yesterday I got back on my diet. It's weird to me that it's been such a yo-yo thing for me. but to be honest, things happen. Life happens. And just because I slip for a few days does NOT mean I will give up everything I worked for and gain it all back, or give up trying to lose more. I'll just get right back at it when my motivation kicks back in. It's taking longer this way, but I am doing the best I can!

Yesterday I started doing Level 3 of the 30 Day Shred. I have only gotten up to Level 2 before, ever. But when I was exercising I found myself getting very bored. The moves were somewhat difficult, but I didn't feel like it was THAT challenging. I want a workout that makes me drop when I am finished, one that I feel was worth the time I put into it.

Level 3 is totally that.

It's hard. Really hard. Probably less hard if you work up to it. But I am breaking the rules :) I like to be challenged and I feel really accomplished when it's over. And I feel like results will come with me working that freaking hard!

I am only on day 2...I am sure in 2 weeks I will be like "oh yeah...I haven't been exercising!" But today it works. Today it feels good. Except when I move....my abs are killing me from the intensity of the workout. It's actually a good feeling.

This Easter Season, you can head into Build-A-Bear to create one of their new special edition Furry Friends...the Blossom Bunny and Cheerful Cheeks Chick! Blossom Bunny is a 16 inch, soft, colorful Bunny with long ears. She is covered in cheery flowers that make you wish for Spring!! Cheerful Cheeks Chick is an adorable 16 inch yellow duck with a soft fluff of hair on his head - perfect little Spring Chick!

****EASTER SPECIAL*****

To celebrate Easter, Build-A-Bear has a great limited time offer for their customers!!

From now until April 4th, 2010 you will receive a Free Easter Basket & Free Candy with a purchase of $20 or more at a Build-a-Bear store!

MY THOUGHTS:

Our visit to Build-A-Bear to make our Easter Friend was enjoyable, as always! My daughter knew we were going to the Mall to visit Build-A-Bear, and she was beyond excited about it! While we were waiting for my Husband to get home so we could leave, I let her look at the Build-A-Bear website with me to look at the Bunny & Chick so she could have an idea of which one she wanted to create. She chose the Blossom Bunny!

When we got there and could see the animals in person, she stuck with her first choice of the Bunny. I noticed right away that these animals are pretty large! You get a good sized stuffed animal for your price that's for sure! She was much less nervous using the stuffer machine this time around, I think she's getting used to this process ;)

After we stuffed her, we walked around awhile looking for the perfect spring outfit for her Blossom Bunny. I saw a poster with some cute new styles, and she liked them a lot. So we found the rack with the Spring dresses, and she picked our her favorite! We picked out her free bows, and headed to the checkout.

Since our total was over $20 we received the FREE Easter Basket and Candy!! The basket we got is really cute, made with pinks, purples, yellows, and more cheerful colors.

We also received the paper basket filler, but it was in a separate sealed bag. I really appreciated this, because then I could control when it was opened & put into the basket. And then you won't have the mess everywhere either. I am actually saving it to fill her basket with on Easter morning! We also got some candy Gummies that were (ahem) really good!

There is still time to get to Build-A-Bear and create one of these new Furry Friends! And remember, if you make a purchase that totals $20 or more, you get the FREE Easter Basket & some candy! For more details, click HERE.

Mimi's Babies: Adorable Handmade Accessories & Much More! With Review & Giveaway!

Are you looking for the perfect hair accessory for your Daughter's Easter dress? Or how about some new hairclips complete with pretty spring colors?

You'll find all of that and more at Mimi's Babies! Mimi's Babies is an Etsy shop that is Family run and owned....Charissa is the talent behind the knit and crocheted items, and her Mother in law is the Seamstress that creates the sewn and monogrammed pieces in their shop. Together they provide their customers with adorable and unique pieces such as hair clips, hats, clothing, and much more!

Here's a little more about Charissa and Mimi's Babies!

"We opened our Etsy shop in August of 2009 as a way to share our handmade goodies with others. After giving many handmade gifts at baby showers and making custom items for friends and family, we decided to open a handmade business and Mimi’s Babies was born. Each of our products arrives ready to gift.

Our inspiration for new products comes from many different sources. One of our favorites is customer or feedback. Recently, I made a beautiful newborn crochet beanie with three delicate crochet roses for a customer based on a picture she saw."

MY THOUGHTS:

Charissa was kind enough to send my Daughter a Headband/Hair Clip Set. I chose the Pink Lemonade Large Crochet Flower Clip with the Lime Green Headband. I picked this piece because I really loved the Pink and Green together! The Lime Green color really pops and is perfect for Spring!

This Headband/Flower was sent to me in a colorful and professional looking package. They would be perfect to send as gifts, because they are wrapped up so nice! It's kind of hard to read on my picture, but the paper tag has their store name on it too, very cute!

The great thing about this set is that I can use the Pink Flower Clip in her hair alone, or pair it with the headband. The flower is attached to an easy to use alligator clip that stays put in my daughter's hair all day!

Here's a look at the different ways she can wear it...

The Green headband is very stretchy and fit her head well. And the Flower has a pretty green polka dot button on it, which is really cute and ties the colors together perfectly! I thought that the Flower was crocheted beautifully, and would definitely recommend picking up some for your own daughter or as a pretty gift!

Mimi's Babies has a large selection of items that are all just as cute as my set! Here are a few of my favorites :)

I love this Crochet Cupcake Purse! My daughter would love to put her little treasures inside this! It comes with drawstrings for an easy close, and you can pick the 'frosting' color too. At only $8.95 it's a great deal!

This is a White with Raspberry Pink Polka Dot Button Crochet Flower Hair Bow and it's only $2.50! I love that button!

This Crochet Pink Hat with Brown Flower is great for the early Spring air that gets chilly!

They even have Monogrammed Tees for your little ones Birthday!

Planning a Third Birthday Party! Picked The Theme!

It's starting!!

The planning of my Daughter's Third Birthday Party!!

I am first hit with the thought "How the heck did she get that big??

Add on some thoughts about where we were 3 years ago, how much happiness she has brought our Family, and it's enough to send this Mom into some sentimental tear fests.

Then the next thought is "What should we do??

I first thought about my Daughter's favorite things right now. They include Blue's Clue's,My Little Pony, and Disney Princesses. I did some googling and checked out Amazon to look at Party Supplies. I though Blue's Clue's would be fun but wanted something sweet and girlie...

Disney is everywhere which makes me NOT want to do it.

When I ask her about it she says YES to every idea. She wants ALL the parties, duh! Princesses? yup. Ponies? yup. Blue's Clue's? yup. Dora? yup.

Basically, she wants a party. Cake. Presents. Oh, and Candles. For still being two, this girl totally gets what birthday parties entail.

So I am choosing for her. We are doing My Little Pony this year. She adores them, has a lot of the toys already. She can name every single pony...by heart....just point at their pic & she'll tell you their name. Even Tullarulla....which I can barely spell.

I think she has maybe all but one of the Ponies...I don't know though. I'll have to ask her to name them all and check off a list to see what she still needs, LOL!

So the next month I will be getting into Party mode. Her Birthday is near the end of April,so I realize I still have plenty of time. But it will be April before you know it,and I want to make sure everything has time to ship.

I have been thinking of party favors & activities. I am searching high & low. And GUESS what i found?? The cutest most perfect little activity ever!

It's from FooDoodler (never heard of them? I hadn't either!) It's Premade Cookie Packs that come with Food Coloring pens. the kids can decorate their own cookie & eat it when they are done. Genius, LOL!!

And guess what?? They have My Little Pony!! I am definitely ordering some for the kids to decorate!

You can order individual cookies, or sets. One set is $15.99 for 8 cookies, 8 Flavored FooDoodlers, and a Ideas Kit. That may be the set I get!

They also sell My Little Pony cookies that are already finished for you, looking perfect. They would make a great favor if you put them in a little Cellophane Bag with some ribbon!

Fun, right?

Has anyone ever used this website or product before? I'd love to hear your opinions! I have read that the cookie is not that tasty, but I love that it can be a activity and that the cookie actually has a My Little Pony on it. I'd make my own, but that would NOT work out well, LOL!

UPrinting: Postcard Giveaway!

Today I have another great giveaway from the online printing company, Uprinting! UPrinting is your go to company for an endless variety of printing needs...such as posters, business cards, greeting cards, canvases, and postcards.

Post cards from UPrinting can be designed any way you like. You choose the images and words to create a custom card that fits your needs. When I think of a postcard, I think of the ones they sell in souvenir shops. You know the style.....a pretty image telling of which site seeing spot you are near, and a blank backside for you to write a note on and mail to a loved one.

But Postcard Printing from UPrinting can be so much more! Turn them into invitations, thank you cards, recipe cards, baby announcements, or a unique way to advertise your business! Creating your postcards is easy to do with UPrinting. They have easy to follow steps that will help you create the perfect result. They even have an option to get a free proof before you pay! They will check, fix and proof your files so that you don't accidentally order your products with a mistake on them, such as a low quality image or incorrect sizing of text, etc. I especially love this feature because I am not always the best at arranging images and uploading the correct size image when I print online. With that free proof I have confidence that my money will be well spent on a product that is high quality and professional!

With these postcards you also receive color printing on both sides of the card, which gives you plenty of space to display images and announcements!

Photobucket

One reader will win 100 4X6 Postcards from UPrinting!

Created in 14pt Cardstock Gloss, full color both sides, free shipping!

The Hair Coverings Store - Fashionable Hair Accessories! With Review & Giveaway!

This Spring, add some new energy to your outfits by pairing them with an accessory from the Hair Coverings Store!! At Haircoverings.com you will find a wide assortment of pretty headbands, scarves, bandanas, hats, and much more....all at an affordable price and made with quality and care!

When I visited haircoverings.com, I was pleasantly surprised with how many choices they gave their customers! This makes it very easy to find something perfect for you and your unique style. I know as Moms we tend to get so busy taking care of our kids that our own style can get forgotten. That's the great thing about the headbands, hair clips, and pony holders found at haircoverings.com....they make fashion quick and easy. You can instantly looked pulled together and ready for anything when you throw on one of their hair accessories!

MY THOUGHTS:

I was able to try an untied Headband for this review, which was my favorite style from their website. I received this beautiful purple/paisley patterened untied headband....it is made of the softest material! The stretch of the fabric made it very easy to use...it didn't look bulky or too thick. Untied Headbands are basically a long sash that is tied around your head to create the headband, and the extra material hangs in the back. I actually like to wear the tails of the headband on top of my shoulders, I think it looks cute that way, almost like a necklace or scarf would look :) You can also push them back so they blend in with your hair.

I also like that you can create a more thick or thin style of headband, depending on your mood and the look you are trying to achieve. I even wore it as a pretty scarf tied around my neck! Talk about chic!

Photobucket

At Haircoverings.com you will find fashion accessories that are affordable, stylish, and fun! You can take a look at their website to find a favorite style....and you may be there awhile! There are so many cute items to choose from!

They even have a $5 and under section if you are looking for a great deal!!

Use the Promo Coupon Code WINTERIZE to save 10% on your order!

Snow White Needs an Apple...of Course!

I was cleaning out my daughter's closet today...mainly because it was a HUGE mess. Just organizing, like I do every so often.

*BTW: Windows are open, and the fresh air is so uplifting!! It hit 64 degrees yesterday, a record high for a MN March. Today it's almost 60 again, and I am soaking it all in!*

During this cleaning time my daughter hangs out in the room with me, pulling out toys that she hasn't seen in awhile. Pretty much undoing what I do :)

She spotted her Halloween costume (Snow White) and had to wear it. So I put it on her, and she's been wearing it all afternoon. It's super cute :)

I figured it was a good time to get a healthy snack in her! I asked her if Snow White would like an apple...and of course she said yes!! Girl knows her Disney movies :) She chowed down almost the whole thing.

Sometimes you do what you gotta do to get the good stuff in them, right? *Thanks Snow White*

Old Navy Clearance 1/2 Off Today - Here Are Some Finds!

I had a couple of Returns to make after my Old Navy shopping trip, and I got back about $23 in store credit. So today we went to do a little shopping and pick out something new...that DID fit me right :)

As I was walking in, I saw a sign that said they were having that 50% Off Clearance Prices special that I LOVE so much!! Totally got lucky there!

First up were 2 Tees that were soft and comfy.....I did NOT realize until taking this picture that these are from their Pajama Line. Oops!! I'll still wear them everywhere though, they are cute...right?? And they were only $2.50 each after the 50% off clearance price.

Next up is a cute plaid long sleeve shirt...I *heart* plaid....and I thought the green was pretty for Spring :) This was $6.50 - the most expensive purchase I made today.

Next I got a couple of things for my daughter...the first was a cute tank that will be great for summer ($5)

This tee was on clearance for $5...but with the additional half off it was only $2.50! It looks completely adorable on her, something about the cut/color I really love. I actually want to go back tomorrow and see if the sale is still going on. If it is, I am getting more in different colors!

This purse was in the Clearance section for $10...so they charged $5. I love the colors, and it will be a great purse to carry around for the warmer weather!

Lastly, I got these cute tote bags...at a HUGE discount! Original price was $10...clearance put them at 50 cents!! So I only paid a quarter for each!! I always need an extra tote bag, they have endless uses for me.

My advice would be to check out all of the racks for these hidden tote bag finds...they were mixed in with the clothes...not near the other purses. There was a TON of clothes on Clearance. I tried on SO many shirts, but put most of them back. Why is it everything looks better on the hanger?? :)

Myself Belt: Review & Giveaway

Finding pants that fit my daughter perfectly has proven to be a quite the challenge. She is tall for her age, and everyone always thinks she is older than she is because of her height. Usually I buy up a size for pants so that they will be long enough...but then comes the waist issue. She is pretty slim and doesn't have much extra weight on her, so pants tend to slip off her little waist. Especially when she is really active (so ummm...all the time!).

The solution? A Myslef Belt! These belts are incredibly easy to use which makes them perfect belt for little kids and toddlers. The creators of Myself Belts are Moms themselves, and they introduced a product that is easy enough to use with only one hand! This makes them perfect for toddlers and pre-schoolers that are learning how to dress themselves and go potty on their own! Kids can open the belt by themselves, and close the belt my themselves. It helps promote independence and builds their confidence!

The belt's patented easy to use closure snaps around a front belt loop and then wraps around and secures in the front with Velcro. I personally love the velcro closure.....so much easier than any belt I've ever dealt with! I was able to try a product out on my daughter for this review, and she chose the Purple Polka Dot Belt. The design is adorable....it is purple with pastel colored polka dots all over it. The satin ribbon material gives it some extra shine too! I put the belt on her at first to see how it needed to go on. I found that it was very easy to use. You snap the belt onto a loop on the pants, then wrap the belt around their waist. Then you close the belt by securing the velcro pieces together.

The velcro makes it easy enough for my daughter to undo by herself, which is great since we are working on teaching her how to get dressed on her own. The design looks great and I really love the pastel polka dot against the dark purple...it makes them pop! The Myself Belt keeps her pants from falling down, which makes running and playing much more comfortable for her!

The little boys have some really nice styles...from fun designs like dinosaurs to brown leather for those dress up events!

So cute & so functional!!
